Hi, I'm Rachel (McGrath) Lyle. I've always loved writing, but never about myself, so I'll try to keep this brief. Like most girls that grew up with a wild imagination coupled with an overactive heart and far too much free time, I started writing stories and poems at a super early age. As you might imagine, most of those early works are dripping with melodrama and cringe by today's standards. Cringe as they were, they were the honest confessions of a kid that dared to be weird enough to try to make art of it. When I write today, I try to maintain the spirit of that weird little twelve year old kid that made a Geocities website, complete with music, dedicated to the tragic poetry she wrote about her crush (oh, yes I did.)
I'm a born and raised Midwesterner that grew up in a tiny village surrounded by cornfields, so it's only natural that a lot of my work has rural influences. I'm also a theatre kid at heart and an amateur botanist/herbalist, so you'll see those elements seep in as well.
When I'm not writing, I'm working my day job, digging in the dirt outside, and spending time with my family that I adore, which includes my husband, Chris, our daughter, Maxine, and our four pets; Jordan, Gustopher, Millie (pictured), and Kitty Babe, head of household.
